A8 Core™’s product is its API and the surfaces around it: the dashboard, the documentation, onboarding, and key management. Most financial infrastructure has genuinely poor developer experience. This role owns the design of A8 Core™’s — the systems and flows that make a developer’s first integration feel obvious and their hundredth feel effortless.
What you’ll own
Developer surfaces
- The dashboard, API reference experience, onboarding, and developer console.
- The end-to-end flow from sign-up to first successful API call.
Design systems
- The design system, patterns, and documentation experience that keep every surface coherent.
Key flows
- API key management, integration setup, and the monitoring views developers live in.
Research
- The study of real developer workflows, usability, and feedback that grounds every decision.
Responsibilities
- Design developer-facing surfaces end to end, from concept to shipped detail.
- Build and extend the design system that keeps the product coherent as it grows.
- Improve documentation and onboarding so time-to-first-call keeps dropping.
- Partner closely with Engineering on faithful, high-quality implementation.
- Run lightweight research with developers and turn findings into design decisions.
- Hold and raise the quality bar for everything a developer sees and touches.
Qualifications
Required
- 5+ years in product design, including work for technical or developer audiences or genuinely complex products.
- Strong systems thinking and fluency with modern design tooling and design systems.
- A portfolio of shipped work that shows craft and clarity under complexity.
- The ability to make dense, technical product surfaces feel simple.
Preferred
- Experience designing developer tools or API products.
- Comfort reading code and documentation, and front-end literacy (HTML / CSS).
- Prior work on dashboards, consoles, or documentation experiences.
